Owning an engineered septic system: what living with one actually involves

The service relationship

Engineered and ATU systems carry an ongoing maintenance and inspection expectation, commonly met through a service contract with a licensed provider. The alarm is a request, not a catastrophe

Pump-dosed systems include a high-water alarm, and its job is to buy you time: the tank holds a reserve above the alarm float, usually a day or so of careful household use. When it sounds, cut water use, check the breaker first (a tripped pump circuit is the most common cause), and call your service provider or a licensed contractor on normal business terms. Habits that protect the expensive part
